Raids Yield P2.6-M Underwear

Government agents seized P2.6 million worth of fake branded underwear during a series of raids in Pasay and Parañaque cities on MOnday.

Raided were the sales outlet of 1881 Marketing at Stall H-34, Sunnyline Building Taft Avenue Extension, Pasay City; the stockrooms at VAS Building Compund on Taft Avenue Extension and at 26 Boeing St., Concorde Village, NAIA Road, Parañaque City.

Seized from the four establishments were 17,442 pieces of counterfeit “Playboy“ and “Nautica“ underwears, packaging materials and invoices.

Charges of unfair competition and trademark infringement were filed against the owners of the raided establishments identified as George Tan and Ruby Torres, the National Bureau of Investigation-Intellectual Property Rights Division said.

The NBI conducted surveillance and test buys after Orion Support Inc., the intellectual property rights of Playboy Enterprises and Nautica Apparel, Inc., complained to the bureau.

Manila Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr. issued the search warrants.
