NBI seized fake
Timberland bags in Binondo mall.
THE National Bureau Of Investigation (NBI) yesterday
reported the seizure of thousands of pesos seized worth
of counterfeit Timberland Bags at a raid in popular mall
in Binondo.
Lawyer Jose Justo Yap of
the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) said
agents raided the sales outlet and stockroom of
Jambalaya General Merchandise owned by Susan Go Janeth
M. Abra on the ground floor at the 168 shopping mall on
Soler Street and at Fortune Palace on Juan Luna Street,
both in Binondo.
They face charges of
trade infringement under the Intellectual Property Code
of the Philippines (Republic Act 8293)
Yap said the agents
seized hundreds of counterfeit Timberland bags based on
warrants obtained from Judge Reynaldo G. Ros of the
Manila Regional Trial Court. No amount for the seized
bags was disclosed.
Yap, in a report, said
the NBI had placed the establishments under months of
surveillance and conducted several test buys to confirm
the evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated
(OSI), a market research firm representing Timberland.
