Counterfeit Branded
Toys Confiscated
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
seized counterfeit Batman and Superman toys worth P7.2
million during simultaneous raids conducted in Binondo,
Manila, the bureau reported yesterday.

Yap, chief of the NBI-Intellectual Property Rigths
Division, said his men raided the two stockrooms of HZQ
Toys and/or Candy Hie at No. 546 Elcano Street and at
No. 623 Camba Street, Binondo, Manila last Saturday.
Also raided were the
sales outlet and two stockrooms of King Land Toys
Merchandise and/or Wilbert Henrick Weng Uy, a.k.a.
Wilbert Tan located at Stalls HUG-64 & 66, Ground Floor,
New Divisoria Mall, and at Unit 404, 4th Floor, and Unit
613, 6th Floor, New Divisoria Shopping Center (formerly,
Bodega Sales Center), Sta. Elena Street, all in Binondo,
Manila..
The NBI conducted
several investigative activities to determine the
establishments' illicit activities. It obtained the
search warrants from judge Reynaldo G. Ros of the Manila
Regional Trial Court, Branch 33.
The owners of the raided
establishments face charges of trademark infringement
and unfair competition under the Intellectual Property
Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293.
