NBI seizes P1.5-M fake rubber shoes
Agents of the National
Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit Vans
rubber shoes worth P1.5 million during simultaneous
raids conducted in Pasay City, the bureau reported
yesterday.
Raided were the
stockrooms of Aho Tan located at Units D-5 & D-6 and in
front of Units D-7 & D-8, Alok Building, 3030 Agtarap
St., Pasay.
Lawyer Jose Justo Yap,
chief of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD),
said the NBI agents put the establishments under
surveillance and conducted test buys to confirm the
evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated (OSI),
a market research firm representing the Intellectual
Property of Vans.
OSI and NBI
simultaneously conducted several investigative
activities to determine the firm's illicit activities.
The NBI later obtained the search warrants from judge
Reynaldo G. Ros, of the Manila Regional Trial Court
Branch 33.
Armed with the warrants,
the raiding teams swooped down on the stockrooms last
Thursday.
