NBI seizes P0.6-M worth of fake jeans
MANILA, Philippines --
Some P600,000 worth of fake Lee jeans were seized by
agents of the National Bureau of Investigation during a
series of raids in Parañaque and Pasay City.
NBI said the recent
raids were prompted by a complaint filed by H.D.Lee
Company Inc., which was represented by Quisumbing Torres
Law Offices.
Agents of the NBI
Intellectual Property Rigths Division swooped down on
the retail outlets and stockroom owned by Chinese
national Eng Kang, alias Patching Kang or Cai Tian Jiang.
Raided were Stalls 1H9
and 1H10, G/F, Galleria Baclaran Shopping Mall, Taft
Avenue Extension, Pasay City and No. 268 Fokker St.
Concorde Subdivision, in the village of Tambo, Parañaque
City.
Seized from the
establishments were at least 498 pairs of jeans, NBI
agents conducted surveillance operations on the
establishment and eventually obtained search warrants to
conduct the raids.
Jose Justo Yap, head of
the NBI's Intellectual Property Rights Division, said
the owners of raided businesses will be charged in
court.
